The Flourish Fitness Challenge, in partnership with Newcastle Hospitals Charity, is a fun way for you to be active and challenge yourself.
By making simple lifestyle tweaks each day, you’ll not only jumpstart a healthier body and mind — you’ll feel better – whether that’s squeezing a little more fitness into your busy time, slimming down, eating better or cutting back on alcohol.
Colleagues of all abilities can take part and initially the challenges will be set by you, as we’re encouraging people to set their own personal goals which are realistic and achievable. However over the coming months, we’ll be sharing a few ideas and fitness programmes if you need a little bit of motivation!
We will also provide a handy tracker to keep note of your progress. Here’s some ideas to get you started:
– Take part in some of the virtual classes as part of the Newcastle International Women’s Day event organised by This Girl Can. Find out more at Active Newcastle
– Take on a night walk with your household or a friend, make sure you’re bright, visible and don’t forget to send us a pic!
– Give up smoking for National No Smoking Day! A great reason to quit and make a healthy change!
Each month simply complete and return your tracker to our Health Champions
As we enter month six, we’d like to start by saying ‘well done’! Whether you have been with us from the very start, or have just joined, it is fantastic to see our staff moving more and sharing their ideas and achievements along the way!
This month we have been inspired by International Women’s Day and want to join ‘This Girl Can’ in celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of our fabulous North East women and girls as well as the important role family, friends, neighbours and colleagues play in supporting the women in their lives.

Newcastle Hospitals Charity raises money to support initiatives that help to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, people and wider communities through compassionate and innovative healthcare, education and research.
The role of our charity is to help to provide enhancements that will make a difference – whether that’s funding pioneering research; supporting staff training and development; state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology or simply enabling the Trust to improve the experience of the patients in its care. Every penny, raised is spent locally to help both patients and their families from across the region and beyond.
