Looking after the health and wellbeing of our staff is paramount. If we don’t look after ourselves, and each other, we cannot deliver safe, high quality care.
The pandemic has had a significant physical, mental and psychological impact on our people – and this will continue for some time to come – so it’s important we encourage each other to seek help when needed and access the support and resources available to us.
Equally, it is important leaders, teams and the wider organisation keep offering people support to stay well at work – and do it consistently.
Through Flourish, our priority is to work with our staff to promote good physical, mental and psychological health and wellbeing, and to support those who need help.
Working with staff we have developed our Health and Wellbeing Strategy which provides an overview of our aspirations and ambitions in supporting the wellbeing of our staff and much of this has been reinforced through the NHS People Plan.
It’s really important we have authentic and meaningful conversations with all colleagues to support a positive staff experience and this, in turn, will support rest and recovery and build resilience in our teams.
- Every NHS staff member to have a conversation about their wellbeing and develop a personalised plan
- This will be reviewed ‘at least’ annually and cover their health and wellbeing (physical, emotional and psychological), any flexible working requirements, equality, diversity and inclusion and civility and respect
