Our Flourish Health Champions have been rolling out Health Checks to Directorates across the Trust
The team is working with Healthworks, the community health charity, to provide 30-minute NHS health checks for staff aged 40-74 years old and Mini Health MOTS for those over 18 years old who work and/or live in Newcastle.
Mini MOTS include the same checks as the NHS Health Check, minus a few family history questions and heart age information at the end
The roll out of Health Checks began in Integrated Laboratory Medicine on 10th June 2022 with 56 staff to date having attended a Health Check or MOT. Staff in Maternity have also had health checks throughout July.
Teams in Women’s Services, Estates, Patient Recruitment Centre and Education are also currently signing up.
Health check criteria:
- Age 40 to 74
- Not had an NHS health check in the last 5 years
- Does not have heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease.
- Not on medication for high cholesterol or Blood pressure
MOT criteria*:
- Over 18
The tests include:
- Blood pressure
- Cholesterol
- Height
- Weight
- Heart rhythm
- Waist measurement
- Person centred advice and support
