As part of a programme of events for #LDWeek22 you have the opportunity to hear and learn from 5 of our very own staff.
We welcome panellists:
Allyson Turnbull & Alison Forsyth from the Learning Disability Liaison Team who will be talking about their passion for ensuring equity of access to services for people with learning disabilities attending Newcastle Hospitals
Nikki Jeffrey, Matron for Sexual Health Services in the Community Directorate, who will share some of the challenges she has faced as the mam of 16-year-old Jake who has severe learning disabilities.
Amanda Holmes who is a Learning Disability Sexual Health Nurse Specialist who has worked in close partnership with the sexual health team to develop care pathways and deliver sexual health care and treatment for people who have a learning disability both in a clinical setting and in the community
Frances Slowie, Children’s Physio and mam to 21-year-old Mia who has drug resistant epilepsy a severe learning disability and will be talking about the struggle of keeping your head above water when juggling work and home life when working as an unpaid manager of Mia’s care team as she transitions into adult care.
The (virtual) room will then be opened up for questions.
