Enabled Network and Pride Network Co-Chair Roles Available

Cheryl Gascoigne, Co-Chair of the ENABLED Network

We are looking for new Co-Chairs for both our ENABLED (Enhancing Ability, Learning from Disability) Network and Pride Network.

Our staff networks are instrumental in creating an inclusive culture within Newcastle Hospitals where staff can feel supported, valued, respected and listened to.

A key part of the Co-Chair’s work will be to support embedding equity of opportunity in everyday practices such as recruitment, career progression and promotion and provide a fair, equitable, supportive and encouraging working and learning environment for our workforce.

So if you are a person who is passionate about driving forward positive change for all, feel you can collaborate with and support others, help co-ordinate the work of the network and act as a conduit to senior management via the Equality Diversity & Inclusion Managers, this may be the role for you.

Cheryl Gascoigne, Co-Chair of the ENABLED Network, explains why the role is so important to her:

“I am a network chair because I have a genuine drive to influence change for the better. Whilst I acknowledge that living with a disability and a long-term health condition impacts my life, I also feel that it has given me the opportunity to understand inequalities and it has motivated me to
share my lived experience in order to level the playing field for all.”

Please submit your expression of interest to [email protected] and include a short biography of yourself and what you feel you could bring to the role of co-chair, by 5pm on Wednesday 25 January 2023.

Members of the ENABLED Network and the Pride Network will then vote on who will be their new co-chair.
