Project Green @ Regent Point

Project Green is a grass-roots idea from colleagues in the trust’s clinical research directorate.

Charlotte Tame and Rob Higgins are setting out to unite like-minded individuals through a love of nature and a passion to actively culture a relationship with it to tackle environmental issues, such as climate change, whilst improving health and wellbeing.

Charlotte and Rob, who are both passionate about such issues, joined the clinical research directorate sustainability group, which was set up in 2020 to find new ways to make our research activities kinder to the planet.

Regent point Atrium – after

An initial survey with staff based at Regent Point confirmed that an improved connection to nature could have a positive impact on the working environment.

With support from the sustainability group and SHINE colleagues, a successful application was submitted to our Climate Emergency Action Fund, which is designed to offer quick turnaround, small-scale funding to kick-start climate emergency projects across the trust.

The plant species installed have been selected for their hardiness, their ability to improve air quality, and to regulate the temperature. The plants provide a sense of peace and add vibrancy to a previously bare space, which we hope will have a positive effect on both staff and visitors.

The plants are being monitored and cared for by a trained group of volunteers and have specific water requirements, therefore we ask that you don’t water them.
