Staff wellbeing day launches new programme

Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees in the Northern region launched their new wellbeing programme with a special event.

The WOW (Working Out Wellbeing) Day started with a series of talks about their school board and the support they offer in the region. It ended with a recorded message of support from Love Island star Dr Alex and Author and Comedian Adam Kay.

Participants all took part in a series of workshops looking at tackling burnout, debriefing after traumatic events, mindfulness and how to boost their portfolio in a post-covid training world. A wonderful lunch and some fantastic goody bags helped boost the day, with the generous help from some local companies.

The afternoon was about defusing and having fun with some great activities to get trainees talking and opening up – including cake decorating, yoga, pottery painting and animal petting! This was a great way to meet other trainees in the region after the pandemic.

The team is hoping this event starts a series of smaller events throughout the year, and directs trainees to much needed sources of support.

Here are some pictures from the day.
